Join HR organizations
There are a number of HR organizations that bring together HR professionals and students with the aim of advancing individual careers as well as HR as a whole. Joining an HR organization is a great way to meet people in the field, to learn about specialty areas and to network for a job. Most organizations charge a small fee for membership, which may be worth it, if you are considering a long-term career in HR.
Some well-known HR organizations are:
• Society for Human Resource Management
• American Society for Training and Development
• National Human Resources Association
• Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology
Leverage the HRGuru community
There are several ways to connect with members of the HRGuru community:
Discussions: In HRGurus’s discussion forums you can ask questions, debate current affairs, and post open positions, allowing you to connect with like-minded professionals.

Groups: HRGuru groups bring together people with a common professional focus, industry, or just for fun. Join existing groups or create your own. A group can be private so that an administrator has to grant permission for membership, or public and open to anyone in the community. Private groups are great for entire company HR organizations or special interest groups.
Join a group
Tagging: Tagging allows members of the HRGuru to highlight special traits in one another. For instance, you may be tagged as “Compensation Expert,” which would be helpful for the other community to know. Similarly, you may tag people with specific skills or professional qualities that they have displayed in the community, helping them to identify and hone their own expertise.
