With experience of life, work experience and observations during dealing with employees, who are also human beings like yourself and only self employed person can handle the emploees considering as a friend and mantaining DISCIPLINE.
Due to major advancements in digital photography many feel professional photographers are not necessary. Market as a whole is backsliding.

Being a self-employed Organization Development consultant is wonderful work and I control my schedule, my deadlines and developed excellent relationships with my clients. It is not stable with regard to income therefore the pay fluctuates from year to year.

Be prepared to live with the unknown. Make sure you develop a good network. Be prepared to make cold calls, if needed. Realize you must be self-initiating, excellent in your work and on meeting deadlines, comfortable with sales as well as your work.
I enjoy work for myself.However it can be very difficult at times financialy, especially when you have just started setting up a company.
