Posted 3 months ago I think that any student who is pursuing a degree in HR should take advantage of the student membership offered at the SHRM website. It is a valuable tool to help you get the most out of your education, It also gives you a broad network of individuals in the HR management field that could be very helpful once you graduate or when you start seeking an internship. |

Posted 3 months ago Personally, I have found this website much more helpful than SHRM.

Posted 3 months ago SHRM is a valuable resource. Although, I would like to become PHR certified my master's program has been taking up all of my time. If I were to take the exam, I wouldn't be allowed to use the signifier until I have graduate and had a certain number of full-time hours under my belt. I have been a part-time HR assistant for three years and none of that time counts. It really is matter of preference to the person. I would encourage getting certification and becoming a member. The thing about resources is, you can never have too many. Hope this is helpful to you.

Posted 3 months ago SHRM is good too. I'd use a variety of resources like this and SHRM and my local SHRM chapter or PIHRA (in So. Calif.). The SHRM site is a little "stuffier" and gets heavily into workplace legislation. Working on lobbying issues, senate bills, etc., is a great "teeth cutter" and a potential way to get into the job/field. Todd

Posted about 1 month ago I have recently accepted the position of SHRM presdient for our student chapter at the college I attend. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start to build the chapter? I only have about 3 members at present and we are a small school with only about 650 students. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Dana Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.
