As a Canadian, I wouldn't have bothered signing up for this site if I had known it only supports US users. This would have been helpful to mention somewhere.

There are certain parts of the site that are more geared towards U.S. users, such as the job search feature. The rest of the site, such as these forums and other community aspects, are not limited by country in the least. I hope that you continue to make use of these non-U.S.-centric featured and if you have any suggestions for making the site better I would love to hear them.

Dunro - Hello from another Canadian! I have yet to come across an active Canadian content HR web site (aside from HRPAO and its chapters). Please do let me know if you come across a Canadian based site. If your focus area is in Canadian labour law, then US based sites may not provide the information you need that you can apply to your job. However, for other areas of HR, especially on the strategic role of HR, there is no difference.

Business networking sites are great tools for knowledge sharing. I have my CHRP and am considering taking the exam for the SHRP (USA) this year. I also have a subscription to SHRM which I find very useful in terms of having access to articles on the latest trends and news that affects HR professionals. I may not be able to apply all I have read in my current role but they may be applicable in my next role.

I am from Bangladesh. When I signed up for this site I had no idea of the site . HR and GURU both the words attracted me. As I am  involved with it gradually I found it deals mainly with USA residents. (job opportunity etc.) But frankly speaking it didnot deter me  rather I started enjoying it and sharing many topics with my colleagues and my  son and daughter  .

Some topic like documentation before firing compelled us to sit and gothrough our own procedure and service book. I will be very happy if HRGURU can start some on line training at various level . We have definitely some experts with us . It will help many non US member as wellas US members also. I Hope GM will look into it .

I agree with tapan that sometimes it opens our eyes to search through how we do things and think about it.  One of the great things I enjoy about this site is its global context - that it is not driven from just one part of the world.  There are differences even in one's own country and it is important to extend ourselves and grow.  We all share the common desire to be the best we can be in our profession - cultural exchange makes us think more deeply about how we do what we do.  I like that and give a thumbs up, tapan for your suggestions.

Hi to all,

I am very new to this site but I would like to make some notes as an HR professional.

I think ethinicity doesn't matter in the HR profession. I think and I believe that we, as an HR practionner have the same denominator in practicing this field. We have the same goal, same code of ethics and the HR foundation we have in running a single organisation are common or if not common, similar goals... Thus, protect it's employees, imposed discipline in the workplace and continuous learning and growth.

I think what matter most is the attitude and your passion for the Job. Although we come from different cultures and as an HR we have common language when we start talking the "HR" "human resources"..

Let's all be instrument of learning, passion and success.. No great amount of feeling than being able to share what we have learned and impart what we know..

Thanks and I'm go greatful to be part of this community.
