| Posted about 1 month ago Good Evening, As a recently certified and degreed Human Resource Manager, interpreting employment laws are challenging. If the eligibility requirements are not revised, the human resource professional may suffer as a whole. With the heightened employment lawsuits, individuals need not only knowledge, but also how to apply the law. The proposed requirements allows for on the job experience before becoming a newly minted Human Resource professional.

| Posted 23 days ago Hi HRAnne. Thanks for your reply. I agree on the need to keep abreast with legislations. The proposed change to eligibility requirements to sit for the exams is to tie the number of years of experience in HR with one's degree/academic qualification. Example, if you have a degree and an MBA, you only need to have 2 years of exempt-level HR experience to write the PHR whereas if you only have a degree, you need 4 years. I find this illogical. Having an MBA does not imply one has more experience in HR than an individual who does not have an MBA. Welcome your views on the topic. And congratulations on getting certified! All the very best! http://www.linkedin.com/in/lichingooi |
