Posted 3 months ago Many organisations introduced uniform in the workplace . Some say it create a good bondage and quick recognition . Others think that it kills variety and makes the office like GI barrack . What do you think? |

| Posted 3 months ago Uniforms standardize the dresscode and are designed to help reduce dress related issues. They can be effective in that regard but can't eliminate all the problems. I've had mixed success with it. Todd |

| Posted 3 months ago Uniforms are sometimes a good idea. Others can argue that it cuts out individuality. In companies where vistors are in and out I think it is really nice to see them in uniforms. It shows professionalism. I also like when companies wear uniforms when they come to our offices. (IT, Insurance, and others of sort) It helps easily pin point who is who, and represents their company well. Tanya M. Papahristos

| Posted 3 months ago We have uniforms here in most businesses, though there are offices where people are allowed to wear what they like. Even though the uniforms are always the same--black skirt or trousers and black jacket with a white shirt or blouse---I still have to say that it looks better than what some people are choosing to wear to the office. Since we have uniforms in school from day one, everyone is used to the idea of uniforms anyway. But the people who wear them just look smarter and seem to have more of a sense of responsibility for the way they dress. I think the entire subject would be answered if everyone would have that same attitude of pride and professionalism. Come to work looking smart, not tart. |

| Posted 3 months ago Hey seabrownthree, great post! Has anyone ever wondered why it is better to have a formal dress at company functions, especially holiday functions. Studies show the more formal the dress the more appropriate people act. Less sexual harassment issues, etc. Yes, there are always exceptions to this rule and plenty of examples to go around, but it is a true phenomenon. Todd |

| Posted 3 months ago I think it can work either way. The good thing about it is being able to recognize certain divisions by the way the are dressed (IT, HR, Finance etc). Plus it cuts the cost for clothing. But, some dont like to feel so restricted. I think that since so many entry level jobs have uniforms (Retail, Fast food etc.), many people in the buisness world feel that they should be past that conformity. |

I think that brings up an interesting point. Over here, people in the business world look on that "uniform" as a status symbol. We have the standard black jacket and trousers or skirt, and a smart blouse or shirt and tie. Everyone who wears that is taken for an executive. I've been mistaken for a barrister more than a few times because of that. So, I think it's a matter of culture, and how you're brought up to view it. Even when people are free to wear whatever they want, you can see the difference in thinking between them. Some people will still stick to that favoured "uniform". Others will go the other way and wear something I wouldn't wear to go shopping. When I see that, I have to say, I'm still in favour of the uniform. It seems to upgrade the office. But I'm really enjoying getting the different viewpoints here. |

It is true, and that is why we stress uniforms here. It seems that people who are dressed a certain way do behave according to the way they're dressed. The theory here is that if you're dressed like a team, you'll behave like one. If you're dressed like an executive professional, you'll behave like one. Etc. infinatim. But I agree that sometimes people in evening gowns can behave like gutter trash rather than like lords and ladies. There's always going to be an exception to the rule somewhere. Overall, however, the rule stands firm--people behave the way they're dressed. |

| Posted 3 months ago Apart from other things I think uniform put the people closer and give feeling of unity with other members of the organization . For aspirant organization it`s power projection . A GI feels the authority and power of the president and as well as responsibilty . It acts as tremendous motivational tools . which leads to think and act like an ambassador of an organization . |
