Posted 3 months ago Hey there, This is a great forum. It seems like its a little out of place in the HR realm, but still a nice friendly social touch to add to the site. Anytime I talk about music, I have to mention my favorite singer EVER, Jason Mraz. He's a little like Jack Johnson (but in my opinion 10xs better). Most of his songs arent studio recorded but you can fid alot of underground copies floating around the web.... and he encouages their download. Its interesting to see an artist that supports piracy of their work so that its, at least, gathering a fan base. He does alot of great covers of old favorites including this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggdoi0rgSjI |

Posted 3 months ago Have you ever listened to Julian Lennon? He sells his own cd's on the web. He had a couple of videos out when MTV first came out, but not really since then. He sounds alot like his father. I also like Michael Franks, and he's another one that you can only find online. You can find some of his stuff on projectplaylist. I agree, it's good to have a bit of time that is just social. It helps us to relax and really form a network, more than just work. It's good to have a few frills.

Posted 3 months ago It is ironic you mention Michael Franks. Jason Mraz had a limited edition CD released through a major retailer, called "Influences", that featured many songs/artists that have inspired him. He has a Michaael Franks' song on the CD by the name of "Night Moves". The two sound very similar in vocal styling, quality, and sound. I have not heard any Julian Lennon..... drawing a parallel, there is an artist named Jeff Buckley that I am also a big fan of that looks/sounds quite similar to his father (Tim Buckley) as well. The two of them died tragically and too soon, though not of the same causes.

Posted 3 months ago I like a song by the Silver Bullet Band called Night Moves. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Have you ever heard of them? I also like Bob Dylan. I really liked his early stuff. He had one song called "Let Me Die in My Footsteps" that I really liked. Oh, and Cat Stevens. He's called Yasuf Islam now, I think. Who else do you like? For more modern stuff, I like Alicia Keyes (no one) and Rianna (shut up and drive). There are so many more, but this is a start!

Posted 3 months ago I agree that Jason Mraz is like Jack Johnson, but better. I do like JJ's "Banana Pancakes" song, have you heard that one? I have not heard of the others you all mentioned, but will have to look into them. I am always looking for good artists! I love music, and feel that every time in my life, no matter how big or small, can be symbolized in song :o) The good, the bad, and the ugly....lol!

Posted 3 months ago I also am a fan of Jason Mraz. His song Lucky with Colbie Caillat will be our wedding dance song. It suits the beach location we've chosen.

Posted 3 months ago Oh, a seaside wedding! aaawwwww! Tell all, what is it going to be like and what beach? I live in England, but the beaches in Cali are to die for! My favourite was Coronado Beach.

Posted 3 months ago We're actually going to Riviera Maya in Mexico. There's a resort called Barcelo that stretches about 1.5 miles of beach. I personally have never been, but I've talked to people who have and they say it's beautiful! I'm so excited!
