Posted 3 months ago I just moved to San Francisco, and no one out here listens to country! Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, and Reba are among my favorites... And I love that song "You're Gonna Miss This". Any other fans of country out there? Who's your favorite? Been to any good concerts lately? |

| Posted 3 months ago Hi There! I just moved to Austin TX from Chicago IL, I don;t claim to know alot about country but I love Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Rascal Flats, Johny Cash and a host of others! I am in the midst of it all now! But, Austin loves music in general. There are many venues to hear live local music weekly! I am going Country Swing dancing Sat night and can't wait to see what that's about! I wish you well in San Fran!!! |

| Posted 3 months ago It's funny because I hated country before I met my husband. When we started dating it was all he listened too. Now it's all I listen to. I can't get enough. I think if you share the music you'll have some people that will come around to it. Hope everything else is going well for you! |

| Posted 3 months ago I like some country music, but I have alot of different kinds of music that I listen to, as well. I like Alison Krauss and Patty Loveless. Martina McBride is another one, and Chely Wright. There was another woman that I used to listen to who sang the song "Harley", but I can't remember her name. Travis Tritt, is of course, a good one. Randy Travis, Clint Black and George Strait. But I do not think that Billy Ray Cyrus was a singer of any kind, never mind the country singer he claimed to be, and I do not like Dwight Yoakum (who could probably stand up straight if his trousers weren't so very tight). I just like all kinds of music. I used to live in Austin when Asleep at the Wheel was just getting started, and they used to play during the lunch-hour concerts on the green by the capital building. |

| Posted 2 months ago Allison Krauss is one of my favorites. I also love Tanya Tucker, Reba McIntire, Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Caly Walker, and many others. I guess you can talk that I like a lot of the older country music! Dana Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections. |

| Posted 2 months ago Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, George Strait-- yeah, those are great. Clint Black, Reba McIntyre, Patty Loveless, Shenandoah, the list goes on. But I grew up on Slim Whitman and Hank Snow, Hank Williams, Sr......now, those are the truly great. No one could do it better. |

| Posted 2 months ago Oh, by the way, did any of you ever listen to Minnie Pearl on the Grand Ole Opry? Saturday nights, sponsored by Martha White flour or by Even Stevens. Happy days! |

| Posted 2 months ago I grew up on Country Music. I can remember coming home from school and sitting with the radio in my lap and listen to it. I like a lot of the old Country Music - 50s-70s. I like some of the new music too but not as well as the old. Some of my favorite concerts I attended while in the Air Force were at the Hampton Roads Coliseum. Entertainers like Johnny Cash, The Statler Brothers, Loretta Lynn, Don Gibson, Jim Ed Brown, Floyd Cramer, Chet Atkins, Boots Randolph, etc. Those were some great concerts. Recently I have been to some small town venues that have some excellent talent. I could go listen to good Country Music every weekend.

| Posted 2 months ago The last concert that I attended was Alabama. My son took me for Fatehr's Day. We were about 12 rows back - center to the stage. It was a great concert. We stood up more than we set down. David Excellence can be attained if you ...

| Posted 2 months ago I'll bet. I remember when they got the new guy, the little one. He has a nice voice, too. Have any of the other ones had to be replaced? They are getting on, but their harmonies were always a pleasure to listen to. Another modern group that harmonizes very well is the Oak Ridge Boys. |

| Posted 2 months ago Alabama has actually quit touring. The Oakridge Boys were okay - but I did not like them near as well as the Statler Brothers or Alabama. David Excellence can be attained if you ...

| Posted 2 months ago silly me, I have egg on my face. It's late, and for some reason, I thought you were talking about going to Alabama to see a Statler Brothers' concert! Yes, I did like Alabama, and am sorry to hear that they're no longer touring. Did they break up? |

| Posted 2 months ago No, they didn't break up - they just got too rich and quit I guess. Regarding the Statler Brothers, they have quit touring as well. Some of them were getting up there in years. Overall, they are one of my favorite country groups. David Excellence can be attained if you ...

| Posted 2 months ago I've always enjoyed Dolly Parton and Vince Gill. As for any Dixie Chick fans - I first heard then in Dallas just before they started to become famous and they were singing the Stars Spangled Banner at the Lone Star Park (Horse Races) in Grand Prairie, Texas. I remember it vividly as they sang off key and I thought they sounded pretty bad. I couldn't believe it when they became famous. lol |

| Posted 2 months ago Alot of the really great ones are getting up there in years and retiring. I like Dolly and Vince, as well. I still believe in you by Vince Gill was a really pretty song. I like Amy Grant, too, but it seemed like a strange mix when they got married, because they don't sing the same kind of music, and his first wife was a country singer. I like Amy Grant, as well, but she isn't a country singer. Vince Gill's first wife was from the famous White family, country singers. |

| Posted 2 months ago I like Dolly and Vince as well. Others I like that come to mind are Conway Twitty (I saw him in concert in the late 1960s), Charlie Pride, Don Williams, Sonny James, and the list can go on - mostly the older ones. David Excellence can be attained if you ...

| Posted 2 months ago I was just playing Don Williams during a dinner party tonight! I really love his song "too old to die young" and have been looking for it. American Country cds aren't always easy to find here, so I may end up having to order it online. He has such a nice voice! |

| Posted 2 months ago I am not too much of a country music fan, however, I do enjoy listening to Rascal Flatts. |

| Posted 2 months ago yeah, they're good, too. We used to listen to so many acts that were introduced on the Grand Ole Opry. That was Saturday night fun for us. We lived in the very, very rural part of the country, and it was quiet and slow. And nothing but country music on all of the radio stations! |

| Posted 2 months ago Don Williams is smooth. I saw him in concert once and really liked it. Not long ago I was at a small musical theater in Kentucky. They had different performmers impersonating singers. One guy impersonated both Don Willimans and Jim Reeves. He did an excellent job. David Excellence can be attained if you ...

| Posted 2 months ago It's great to read that there are still people in this world that enjoy country. I grew up with country. Or should I say that that is all that my mother listened to. And in those days, we didn't have ipods and the like, we listened to what the grown-ups had on the radio. But, I sure did love it. My dream was to become a country singer; another Barbara Mandrel. I do enjoy alot of the music, but I don't remember many of the names of the people that sing them. I loved the song "I Wish I Was a Teddybear", but I couldn't tell you the woman that sang it. I enjoy Dolly Pardon, Kenny Rogers, Alabama, and a newer one - Carrie Underwood. I don't get the opportunity to listen to it much anymore. I have children, especially a teenager, that moans and groans if I turn the radio station to country. And I don't seem to have any CDs around to play. I sure miss it. |

| Posted 2 months ago I actually remember Dolly Parton singing "I wish I was a teddybear". Not living or loving, not going nowhere. I'm sure that others did, as well, though. I'll bet there will be someone on here who will know! |

| Posted 2 months ago I had a feeling you would be the one to find it out! Barbara Fairchild. I can't say that I've heard of her name, but I certainly did hear her sing that song alot on the radio when I was little. I'm fifty now, so that's been awhile. But I heard Dolly Parton sing it once. I never could figure out how she could play the guitar with those long nails! I used to play the guitar alot, and I had no nails. |

| Posted 2 months ago Growing up in New England, I was exposed to most country music such as Alabama, Oakridge Boys to name a couple. Since I like most of today's country music, I gotta tell you that Alan Jackson is my all time favorite! Went to 2 of his concerts. One in the early days of his career and one that I attended last year with Brook's and Dunn. He and his music still hasn't disappointed me. |
