Hello,

What are the pre-requisites for HR interview. What are the keypoints by which someone can be successful.

What manners must be followed in that?

Thanks & Regards

This isn't exactly manners but it has to do with knowing the organization that you are interviewing with.

In my Human Resource Management course I was taught that prior to an interview you need an interview plan. You need to be “thoroughly prepared” in order to do the best job you can during the interview. In the interview plan you need to research the organization that you are going to interview with, such as: Location of offices and their headquarters, the officers/management of the organization, what the growth plans are for the organization, what their product and or services are, know what their sales, profits, and dividends look like, who their competitors are, what the structure of the organization is, what positions are available especially their entry-level ones, find out what the career paths of graduates who have started working there, and lastly but not just as important as the others is to find out if they offer a stock option, medical, tuition reimbursement or other incentives (Invancevich, J.,2001, Human Resource Management, pg. 574).

I agree with the previous comment - about knowing the organization you are interviewing for.  I was interviewing a college student for an intern position at Cummins.  When I asked him what he knew about Cummins, he mentioned Roger Penske - who at the time owned Detriout Diesel.  Cummins was in direct competition with Detroit Diesel.  Needless to say, he did not get a job with Cummins.

- Care more than others think is wise,
- Risk more than others think is safe,
- Dream more than others think is practical,
- Expect more than others think is possible.

But keep in mind that it's not always easy to get the information about the company you're interviewing for. Many companies have websites promoting their products but not many of them will discuss who's who in their company.  If there's any other advice about researching a company, I'd love to hear it!

You can go to a website that lists that information, which is public information in a publicly held company.  They have to list who their directors are, at the very least, and what their credit rating is.  I'm not sure what it would be called over there, but I'll bet that someone posting on here will.  I've gone to these sites before to check out information, and you can get everything from their address to their credit rating and availability, as well as the name, birth date and address of the director.  They also have more detailed packages of information about the company that you can purchase if you wish, and they'll list the details there on the page.

Thanks, Sarah!  I'll keep this in mind when I am job searching!
